CKD-EPI creatinine inputs

Equation

eGFRcr = 142 * min(SCr/kappa, 1)^alpha * max(SCr/kappa, 1)^-1.2 * 0.9938^Age * SexFactor

BSA = 0.007184 * Height^0.725 * Weight^0.425

Sex

Optional BSA de-indexing inputs

Enter both height and weight to estimate eGFRcr without normalization to BSA of 1.73 m2.

Calculation details and notes

For females, the calculator uses SexFactor 1.012, alpha -0.241, and kappa 0.7. For males, it uses SexFactor 1, alpha -0.302, and kappa 0.9.

eGFRcr is an estimate of kidney function when kidney function is stable. Normalized eGFR uses a BSA of 1.73 m2 to support comparison across body sizes.

For medication-related decision making, references may use eGFR without normalization to BSA in patients with body surface areas substantially lower or higher than 1.73 m2.

eGFR values calculated using MDRD or CKD-EPI equations should not be used interchangeably with Cockcroft-Gault creatinine clearance values for drug dosage calculation or adjustment.

Creatinine-based estimates may need confirmation when muscle mass, diet, or medicines affect creatinine production or secretion.
