PEBC pathway for international pharmacy graduates

A new IPG pathway begins in January 2027

Eligible international pharmacy graduates with a current Pharmacist Document Evaluation may proceed directly to Pharmacist Qualifying Examination Part I (MCQ).

A successful Pharmacist Document Evaluation is valid for five years and must be current for the exam sitting.

The October 15, 2026 Pharmacist Evaluating Examination is the final Evaluating Examination PEBC will offer.

The maximum remains four attempts for Part I (MCQ) and four attempts for Part II (OSCE).

1. Enrol in Pharmacists' Gateway Canada when required for your pathway.
2. Complete PEBC Pharmacist Document Evaluation when required.
3. Pass Qualifying Examination Part I (MCQ), then Part II (OSCE)—these remain the Qualifying Exam even as the Evaluating Exam ends.

3. Common study challenges for IPGs

• Calculations under time pressure — unit tracking and setup speed matter as much as formulas. Practise timed calculationswith explicit unit checks on every step.
• Canadian healthcare context, law, and ethics — rules differ from many training countries. Start with our law guide, then confirm current college standards for your province.

4. Canadian pharmacy practice differences

High-yield exam themes for IPGs include patient-centred decision-making, clear documentation, interprofessional collaboration, and awareness that drug names, schedules, and scope rules differ from many countries. Treat province-specific jurisprudence as local—do not assume one province's rules apply everywhere.
